In Memory of Doug Price

Who was Doug?

The Friends of Lakeview Community Pool Annual Fundraiser is being held in memory of Doug Price — a proud member of the Lakeview High School Class of 1973, lifelong supporter of the Lakeview community, and someone whose childhood and family memories were deeply connected to the Lakeview Community Pool.

Doug was an active member of the Lakeview swim team from 7th grade through high school and also participated in wrestling during his high school years. Like many local kids growing up in Lakeview, Doug and his siblings spent countless summer days at the pool creating lifelong friendships and memories. Their mother, Verna Price, served as the Lake County librarian, and during the summers the Price children would ride into town with her each morning and spend their days at the pool until it was time to head home. The pool was more than just a place to swim — it was a gathering place, a source of joy, and an important part of growing up in a small town.

Doug later attended Oregon State University, where he earned degrees in Food Science and Business with support from the Daly Fund. Though he went on to accomplish many things in life, Lakeview and the memories made at the community pool always remained close to his heart.

Doug’s siblings — Steve Price (Class of 1980, swim team), Susan Price Robertson (Class of 1975, diving team), Wayne Price (Class of 1971, lap swimmer), and Dave Price (Class of 1970, known for “dunking” younger siblings) — are proudly supporting this fundraiser in his honor.

The Price family shared that Doug was truly the center of their family as the middle of five siblings, and they believe he would be honored knowing that children and families in Lakeview will continue “cannonballing and splashing about,” competing on swim team, and creating the same kind of cherished family memories they were fortunate to experience.

This fundraiser is not only a way to celebrate Doug’s life, but also an opportunity to preserve one of the special treasures of growing up in Lakeview for future generations.

The Price family encourages the community and fellow LHS alumni to consider donating in Doug’s memory to help keep the Lakeview Community Pool alive, thriving, and full of laughter for years to come.
